Dan`s Grub Shack in Atascadero

It’s pretty basic but the staff are nice, the food is good & reasonably priced. No frills but worth a visit

If you are looking for great food you definitely have to go to Dan's Grub Shack. Everything they serve There Is Awesome the staff are super friendly and the place is always very clean. And I definitely suggest trying the deep fried pickles they are awesome.

Best kept AWESOME grub spot in Atascadero. The most underrated thing about this place is the French fries. The fries have a batter crust on them that makes them so delicious. It's a light batter but man it's good. A few years ago that ranked as the county's best. The menu has all kinds of crazy burgers that are delicious. I met the owner and she is a very nice woman that loves to talk. there's nothing fancy about this place but then again do you want fancy when you're just going to get your grub on. The burgers and a sandwiches are grub. It's an open play so you can watch them cook which is always a plus. I had a sandwich today that had ribeye steak they're homemade sauce tomatoes lettuce onions cheese ham bacon in Turkey.... And for all you medicinal users out there you will love this place. Great little hole in the wall place!I ordered the chicken fried short ribs, it comes with mashed potatoes and gravy (which I got on the side), and I ordered garlic fries. Wow they were so good!

Not good at all! The cheese they use has got to be the cheapest cheese available cause it overwhelmed the burger that was flavorless anyways. Don't know what they are doing with those fries but another dud there. 1 time was enough to say we will not eat there again.

I have the best wife ever. She found this place for us and I love her more for it. Cheese aside.... or on top of the fries with brisket is good.

I love the specialty burgers. The new York knocked me out on my last visit. The bun was perfect and what was between the bun was even better. ... oh my was way too full, and couldn't stop. Thanks a lot Dan

Second time visiting. Impressed once again. Amazing food and service! Garlic fries are to die for! The Poor Boy burger was fantastic! Portions are huge! Will always come back when we do our coastal trips.

This place does it right, food is amazing, service is friendly and great. Comin back for sure. To many delicious options is hard to pick what to eat! Had onion rings and a poor boy, pulled pork was off the hook!

Dan's menu is amazing, there's no where else like it. His staff is friendly and always attentive. Dan's Killin it here. Definitely worth a stop.

Excellent Philly Cheese Steak & homemade chips!

This place is ridiculously good. The staff are very friendly and attentive. When I first head about this place the brisket fries grabbed my attention I ordered them and they were fabulous. I was going to get the chicken fried ribs to go, but after eating those fries I have to go hibernate. I think anything you order there would be just as good. Just go there! Now!!

Clean little hole in the wall place. Nice and attentive personnel. I ordered the famous salad. It was beautifully cooked and tasted great. Wasn't too fond about the dressing, but maybe I'm just use to my own recipe LOL. I'm just being picky. Looking forward to coming back and try the rest of the menu.

Always a great experience at Dan's Grub Shack. From their fish and chips to their special items like their grilled mac and cheese burger. Never disappointing. Definitely a comfort-food feel kind of place. Meatloaf sandwich is amazing. They're quick to get your internet and quality is never compromised.

For the amount of food it was way over priced . Basically $17 pastrami sandwich was not worth it. I will not be coming back.

Surprised I hadn't seen this place before. I decided to give it a shot and glad I did. The Burger I had was fresh delicious and HOT! Like real HOT! It was very tasty and the french fries were seasoned with Sea Salt. It was great. I will be back again.

Excellent food and service. Was showing a good baseball game while there.

Dan is the perfect host. He takes time to get to know his customers - often by first name. His menu is yummy and offers a few seasonal dishes. I haven't found my favorite yet. Still eating my way through it.

The pastrami hamburger was great, I would definitely order it again. The bottle caps and garlic fries were also very tasty and we're good portions for the money. I rated them 4/5 however bc the Gyro was way to small to pay $15 for, my husband and I both thought it should be $8 for the size.

So amazing! I had theac and cheese bacon cheeseburger and OMG I was in heaven! A little pricey but totally worth it 👌

Great food. Unique options and large portions. The service was great and plenty of parking. RV and trailer parking. We had the brisket fries and the Danimal. Awesome!!

Famous for their fish and they exceeded all expectations! So many incredible items on their menu that made it so difficult to make a choice.

Ordered the Philly cheesesteak. Hardly any cheese on it. Only visible on 1/3 of it. Meh in the flavor dept., and light on the side of fries too. So disappointing.

One of the hands down most delicious places in the whole county. Dan really knows how to serve up some of the best. The creations on the menu are absolute masterpieces, the man has a wonderful imagination and palate which really shows on the menu. The brisket fries are scrumptious!

Oh my God, this place is one of the best I've been to for what they sell. Brisket fries are awesome, deep fried artichoke hearts are to die for. It's small but it's worth it.The owners are usually present and Dan himself is a character!I would highly recommend, I've eaten here since they opened and have not had a bad experiance.

Traditional comfort foods with a twist. I really enjoyed the southern fried ribs....smoked, buttermilk soaked, seasoned flour dredged and CHICKEN FRIED! Served with mashed potatoes and country gravy.

A phenomenal burger! Found by searching along 101 for a burger. This places ingredients are super fresh. Lots of variety in burgers. I got an amazing burger with Linguica and jalapeños. The pictures don't do it justice. Extra points for having perfect crispy fries

Disappointed as from Florida looking for good local food and stumbled in and it was like what you buy frozen at grocery. That was the coconut shrimp that they said were XLARGE NOT!! I have no recommendations

We walked in with a party of 12 one hour before they closed. They were incredible. Served us with a smile and the good was great!

Fish is better at Morro Bay & the tartar sauce tastes like plain mayonnaise.

We absolutely love this place. We've been here about four times in the past month. Our favorites include the burgers, grilled chicken sandwich, French dip (the best we have ever had), and homemade potato chips. The portion sizes are big, which is awesom. The staff are friendly and check on you to make sure you enjoying your meal and have enough to drink. They have daily/weekly specials as well.

Came on at 7:10 to get a order to go. The girl said there is 4 orders before mine and they aren't taking any more orders. They close at 7:30. Must not need the business.

We have read great things and heard great things about this place. It did not disappoint. The service was excellent. Very friendly and ready to serve. The food was delicious, I had the Farmhand and my wife the Macaroni and Cheeseburger. Both were fabulous, as was the tater tots and onion rings. Definitely try this place out. Prices are on point for why you get Yum

Great place with great people and even greater food. If you are on your way to the coast from the central valley Dan's Grub Shack is well worth the stop. Suuuuuuper good.

The food is “grub” ... and it’s good grub. Big tasty burgers, sandwiches and more. Plus Dan is usual there, and Dan is cool.

Different but good food. Loved the tuna sandwich which is the owners Mom's recipe. Terrific.

Great food reasonable prices. It's hard to impressed my wife and she thought it was amazing. We will definitely be back. Lori (owner) was so friendly and hilarious.
